Top student ventures selected for 2022 ASU Innovation Open semifinals

Meet the ASUio contestants who will compete for a share of more than $350,000 in prizes

ASU Innovation Open is a unique opportunity for the top student entrepreneurs from around the world to take their ventures to the next level. Students representing 31 ventures will compete during the live, virtual event on February 11, 2022, to win their share of more than $350,000 in prizes, including two $100,000 grand prizes.

Powered by ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and the eSeed Challenge from the Prescott Student Venture Fund, ASUio is designed to advance student-led startups that are harnessing the power of entrepreneurship to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges. Teams advancing to the finals will receive mentorship and coaching as they prepare to set their ventures apart from a field filled with high-level contenders.

The 2022 competition attracted more than 100 applicants representing 62 universities around the world. ASUio continues to pride itself on attracting a diverse and representative applicant pool — 72% ventures of the ventures are minority-led, and women are at the helm 44% of the startup teams, both record highs for the competition.

Thirty-two ventures will be pitched to a team of business leaders, tech innovators and engineers from across the Phoenix metropolitan area. These technology startups offered solutions ranging from climate technology and renewable energy innovations to systems and products that have the potential to improve human health and agricultural health.
